The Dog Jog is an annual public event held by Twin Cities Vet for our community where dog owners can get together to participate in a 1/4 mile short walk or a 1-mile fast-paced race.

Where is the Dog Jog and where do I park my car?

The event is located at our vet clinic at 47303 Healing Ct., Soldotna, AK 99669. We are located off of Kalifornsky Beach Road across from Subway and next to Craig Taylor Equipment. Parking will be located in the gravel lot at Redoubt Realty (to the right of the clinic when you're facing it). Attendees can walk through the line of trees or use the trail next to the road to walk from the parking lot to the event area. The event is hosted exclusively outdoors in our blocked off parking lot.

What are the prizes?

There are lots of cool prizes to be won at this event. All attendees can enter to win door prizes and raffle prizes. The racers can win a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize of a gift certificate to Twin Cities Vet. Other prizes are donated by local businesses and there is always a wide variety of awesome stuff to be won!

Paw
Is this a fundraiser?

Yes! ALL proceeds from this event go towards the Angel Fund, which has provided financial assistance for sick and injured pets in our community since 2004.

What is the admission fee?

$20/per adult covers admission which includes entry to the event to participate in the walk or jog, raffle and door prizes, and food (1 hot dog per person from Hot Dogs a la Carte of Soldotna and chips, cookies, and drinks from our clinic booth area). Children under 12 attend free but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Paw
Are there rules for the dogs?

Yes. All dogs must be accompanied by their owner/handler at all times. They must be on a leash which is connected by a harness or collar. We ask that dogs that show aggression of any form do not attend this event for the safety of everyone involved. Dogs must be current on their rabies and distemper-parvo vaccines, and a current bordetella vaccine is highly recommended as well. Rabies and distemper-parvo vaccines are usually good for 1-3 years and bordetella (kennel cough) is only good for 1 year. Please check with your veterinarian or pets medical records to confirm the status of your vaccinations.

Do I need to bring anything?

Other than yourself and your dog that meets the requirements listed above, no! We provide water for dogs and humans along the walk/jog paths and water bowls are posted around the event headquarters as well. In the past years, attendees have brought their own camping chair if they didn't want to stand or sit on the ground. If you are diabetic or have any medical requirements, please bring any medications or additional beverages with you as the event can get warm and tiring.

Paw
Will event swag be available for purchase?

Absolutely! We have custom event t-shirts available for purchase every year as well as other goods. Stickers and grab bags are free but donations are always appreciated as this is a charity fundraiser for animals. Our event logo is different every year and is always done by a local artist. Shirts are purchased and printed locally, too.

What is the size range, style, and cost of the t-shirts?

The t-shirts are short sleeve cotton shirts and are $20 for adult sizes S-4X and $10 for youth sizes. There are limited quantities so we recommend pre-registering ahead of time so we can reserve your shirt!

Paw
What is the order of events, or timeline agenda, for the Dog Jog?

Attendees usually begin arriving at 1:30pm to get in line for registration (or pre-registration pick up). The line for both new registers and pre-registers will be the same, but checking out and receiving your admission will be faster for those who have pre-registered beforehand. The walk/race usually starts by 2:30pm. Once the walk/race is over, it is time to enjoy the food and win some door prizes! The event is over at 4pm.

What is the walk/race path?

All attendees will be escorted from our parking lot - to across the highway - to the bike path and moving right towards Soldotna. The racers will start first, and follow the bike path down to College Loop road, back towards the highway via East Poppy Lane, left on K-Beach Road back towards the clinic. Walkers will simply turn around at College Loop road stop sign and come back to the clinic. We will have traffic directors and cones to help keep traffic slow and safe for our attendees that are crossing the highway during this event.

How do I pre-register?

Pre-registrants will need to stop by our clinic any time during business hours and fill out the pre-registration form and pay at the front desk. We are accepting pre-registrations up until the day before the event.

Can my business donate a door prize for the event?

Absolutely! We greatly appreciate and need door prize donations in order to run the event. Door prizes can be dropped off at the clinic any time during business hours until Friday, May 31st. If your business donates, you will be considered a Dog Jog sponsor and your business will be featured during our event.

Paw
What payment methods are accepted?

We can accept cash, check, Venmo, and credit/debit card. Card transactions will be subject to a processing fee.

Do I have to pre-register?

No, you can sign up and pay the admission fee at the time of the event. We suggest arriving early at 1:30pm if you plan to do this. (However, pre-registrants get extra perks, such as expedited check-in time, swag bag of goodies, and reservation of their t-shirt size!)
