Our Story

Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic has deep roots on the Kenai Peninsula. The practice was founded in 1981 by Dr. Steve Mersch, who saw a need for quality veterinary care between the neighboring communities of Soldotna and Kenai. What began as a small local clinic grew through word of mouth, trust, and a commitment to serving pets and families in a region where dependable veterinary care was essential.

In 2003, Dr. Mersch’s niece, Dr. Debbie Mersch, and her husband, Dr. Jim Delker, purchased the practice and continued building on that family legacy. Both graduates of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Debbie and Dr. Jim brought their experience, dedication, and vision for practice ownership to Alaska, helping Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic grow into the trusted veterinary hospital it is today.

Over the years, the clinic has expanded significantly while staying grounded in the same values it was built on: high-quality medicine, compassionate service, and strong relationships with the community. In 2019, Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility twice the size of the original 1984 building, allowing our team to serve pets and their families more comfortably, efficiently, and effectively.

While our facility has evolved, our purpose remains the same: to provide trusted veterinary care for pets across Soldotna, Kenai, and the surrounding Kenai Peninsula with compassion, expertise, and respect.
